Type 1 diabetes screening platform for professionals and patients

The challenge

The implementation of population-based screening programmes, such as type 1 diabetes (T1D), is an operational and healthcare challenge for health systems. For these programmes to be sustainable and scalable, it is essential to have an infrastructure that supports healthcare professionals, reduces the administrative burden and accompanies participants throughout the process.

The solution

Ailin has developed a comprehensive platform, designed together with healthcare professionals, to manage DT1 screening programmes from start to finish. The platform centralises and standardises all stages of the process: selection of participants, structured collection of clinical information, traceability of samples, organised visualisation of results and subsequent follow-up.

From a clinical point of view, the system offers a global and prioritised view of the participants, organising the results according to the context of each case. This helps to optimise the healthcare professional's time, reduce administrative tasks and facilitate clear and consistent communication.

In addition to clinical support, the platform guides the participant through the entire process, providing clear information at each stage, facilitating kit activation and offering explained results that reduce doubts and improve adherence.

The impact

This infrastructure, developed in collaboration with public and private entities, has made it possible to analyse T1D-associated biomarkers (IAA, IA-2A, GADA, ZnT8A) and HbA1c in more than 3,500 people, facilitating high-volume screening programmes with clinical rigour.

Throughout 2026, this approach will be expanded through new partnerships with healthcare organisations to bring early diagnosis of type 1 diabetes to populations at higher risk, allowing these programmes to be scaled up without compromising the system's capacity to deliver care.

Awareness-raising and early detection together with patient associations

The challenge

Many pathologies remain underdetected in the general population due to lack of information and access to simple tests. Patient organisations play a key role in raising awareness and supporting people, but bringing this work to the field requires an infrastructure to do so rigorously, safely and at scale.

The solution

Ailin collaborates with patient associations to design and deploy awareness and early detection campaigns aimed at the general population. The associations define the focus and target audience, and Ailin provides the diagnostic infrastructure, operational capacity and clinical support needed to execute the initiatives.

This model brings screening tests closer to the public, connects people with patient associations and, where necessary, directs them to the appropriate care pathway.

The impact

We have developed campaigns in different public settings in several provinces of Spain, carrying out thousands of renal function measurements using capillary blood and urine (creatinine, eGFR and albumin/creatinine ratio).

These initiatives have contributed to raising awareness, facilitating early detection and connecting people with the relevant patient associations, reinforcing their support and accompaniment work.

Health education with practical application and impact on the population

The challenge

One of the main challenges for the pharmaceutical industry is to support the continuing clinical education of healthcare professionals, generating a real connection that goes beyond theoretical information and facilitates the incorporation of new biomarkers into clinical practice.

Our solution

We collaborate with pharmaceutical companies in the design and deployment of awareness programmes at international medical congresses, offering a hands-on experience that allows professionals to be guided through the entire patient journey.

Through a digital infrastructure, participants understand how the biomarker is integrated into the care process, from detection to clinical interpretation, in a real environment and applicable to their daily practice.

The impact

We have participated in more than 30 international medical congresses, such as EASD, ATTD or ISPAD, in collaboration with global pharmaceutical organisations, generating spaces for scientific awareness and high-impact clinical conversation.
